How about a work of art that you can use for both cutting up vegetables and serving up delicious treats? Then, when you’re not using it for food, you can hang it in the kitchen to add a decorative flair. You can find all this in these gorgeous cutting boards handmade by a female craftsman with a keen eye for detail in Ontario, Canada.
Complete with a cute little handle that makes maneuvering the board a piece of cake, the board is finished with food-safe mineral oil and organic beeswax. Choose from gorgeous Canadian woods Maple, Ambrosia Maple, and Walnut. Please note that due to wood grain differences each piece will look slightly different and unique! The boards measure 16.5” tall (including handle), 6.5” wide, and ¾” thick. dk
A far cry from the machine-cut, hands-off production of many cheap cutting boards made from plantation trees that are grown using destructive practices, these boards are lovingly crafted by a Canadian artisan with two years of wood-working training behind her and plenty of industry experience. She sources high-quality wood mainly from local sawyers near Outaouais and Montreal and one board can take 20 to 100 years to make counting the tree’s growing time! Each board is carefully crafted according to the natural properties of the piece.
The patterns are carefully aligned according to the grain and then the wood is cut with a bandsaw, planed and routed to round the edges, then sanded to a smooth finish. The piece is topped off with food-grade mineral oil and beeswax for the perfect shine!
