Handcrafted Canadian Wood
Nightwood

A far cry from the machine-cut, hands-off production of many cheap cutting boards made from plantation trees that are grown using destructive practices, these boards are lovingly crafted by a Canadian artisan with two years of wood-working training behind her and plenty of industry experience. She sources high-quality wood mainly from local sawyers near Outaouais and Montreal and one board can take 20 to 100 years to make counting the tree’s growing time! Each board is carefully crafted according to the natural properties of the piece.

The patterns are carefully aligned according to the grain and then the wood is cut with a bandsaw, planed and routed to round the edges, then sanded to a smooth finish. The piece is topped off with food-grade mineral oil and beeswax for the perfect shine!
